Previously, Kashyap's films Ugly, and Gangs of Wasseypur (parts 1 & 2) have been showcased at the Directors' Fortnight. Raman Raghav 2.0 has already intrigued viewers as it's supposedly inspired by the true story of the notorious serial killer Raman Raghav. However, there's bound to be an 'Anurag twist' in the story and he also admits to the same in an interview, saying that the film is not really about Raman Raghav. The mystery will unveil with the film's release on 27th May.
The lauded non-competitive section at Cannes showcases an eclectic lineup of films from across the globe. Started by the Film Directors’ Society in the year 1969, the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs or Directors’ Fortnight is 'an initiative by filmmakers, for filmmakers'.
This year's lineup includes an interesting mix of new works from upcoming filmmakers, films made by veterans as well as projects which are already creating a buzz in media circles. Though the section is non-competitive, there are honours given to extraordinary films by the members of the Société des Réalisateurs Français (French Directors' Guild), the organizer of the event. Clio Barnard's The Selfish Giant, Thomas Cailley's Les Combattants (Love At First Fight), and Ciro Guerra's Embrace of the Serpent are some films that have been honoured in the previous editions of Director's Fortnight.
