There is no dearth of opportunities for screenwriters to hone their skills. With several labs and workshops that train and mentor screenwriters, one can learn the craft and receive valuable feedback (at times from established names) that will help them to improve their work.
Besides this, writers can also get in-depth knowledge about the legalities and other technical know hows required to safeguard their creative and ethical interests. There are several pitching forums too that provide remarkable avenues for young screenwriters to hone their talent and develop their scripts.
We came across one such unmissable opportunity, the Short Screenplay Contest organised by Screencraft which is seeking entries for this year's edition of the contest.
There are several reasons to make a short film, be it to convey a strong societal message or to showcase one's creative abilities or to pave the way for a career in feature filmmaking. With avenues like the Short Screenplay Contest, one can send and receive feedback from the best of filmmaking professionals.
With jury members like Benjamin Cleary (Academy award winning Irish filmmaker), Alex Leibowich (Creative executive at Snapchat), Michael Felker (Short film programmer at Slamdance Film Festival), Alice Kharoubi (Head of Court Métrage at the Cannes Film Festival) among others, this is one contest every aspiring screenwriter must apply to.
Participants should be at least 18 years of age.
