Yash Raj Films released the Indian trailer of Kanu Behl's Titli today. Co-produced by Dibakar Banerjee Productions Pvt. Ltd and Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films, the film features features actors Ranvir Shorey, Amit Sial, Shashank Arora, Lalit Behl and Shivani Raghuvanshi in the lead roles. This is the second time we will see YRF and DBP collaborating, the previous being for Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!. The film is neo-noir thriller, much like Dibakar's previous films (Shanghai, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!) mixed with gritty soundtracks and tacky dialogues.
Any family from New Delhi to Kanpur, from Buenos Aires to Berlin, from Nairobi to Jakarta is the same and will connect with the film. Titli is an indicator of the change that Indian cinema and society have gone through in the last 20 years. It's a film about a family, but from a new perspective," said producer Dibakar Banerjee at the trailer launch. The film become an international favourite after being selected in the Un-Certain regard at Cannes (2014), and at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) among the 22 other selections. The film also won eight international awards including the Best Film Award at Seattle South Asian Film Festival, Malatya International, Turkey and SAIFF, New York.
This directorial debut of Kanu Behl, tells the tale of the youngest member of a violent car-jacking brotherhood (in the badlands of Delhi's dystopic underbelly) who plots a desperate bid to escape the 'family' business along with his new wife who is caught in her own web of warped reality and dysfunctional dreams. Titli is scheduled to release in India on 30th Oct 2015.
