Director Pawan Kumar created quite a stir in the Indian indie filmmaking circles with his low budget thriller Lucia. The director conducted a successful crowdfunding campaign for the film and it was released through PVR Directors Rare. Interestingly the film managed to complete a 100 day run in Bangalore among other metros. It was also remade in Tamil as Enakul Oruvan by Prasath Ramar with actor Siddharth in the lead.
Now 3 years after he made Lucia, Kumar is back with his latest thriller U Turn. The film tells the story of a journalist (Shraddha Srinath) who gets entangled in a murder case. The film also stars Roger Narayan, Radhika Chetan, Krishna, Aarna, Pavan, Naveen and Sudha Belwadi among others.
U Turn also marks the foray of Drishyam Films into distribution. The noted production house which has made films like Ankhon Dekhi, Masaan and Dhanak will be distributing the film across India, except Karnataka and will release on the same day. The film is slated to release with English subtitles across India.
Talking about the association with Drishyam, Kumar says, "I have known Shiladitya since my last film Lucia. We had collaborated on releasing the film across the country in all the major cities. Lucia had become the first Kannada film to achieve that fleet. I am glad that with my third film, we are collaborating again. I have been in awe of the kind of films Drishyam films is making and I feel my film U Turn is now in safe hands for an all Indian Release."
The film is produced by Pawan Kumar’s newly launched banner PK Studios and has music by Poornachandra Tejaswi. The film which is shot by cinematographers Satya Hegde, Advitha Gurumurthy and Siddharth Nuni and edited by Suresh is slated to release soon across India.
