The documentary chronicles Selvi's journey from being a child bride stuck in a violent marriage to escaping and becoming South India's first female taxi driver. It is a documentation of the inspiring ten-year journey of Selvi, a charming, strong, and courageous young woman who defied all expectations by going beyond the pain she had experienced to create a new life.

Elisa Paloschi met Selvi in 2004 when she visited India. After Paloschi volunteered with Odanadi, an organization dedicated to rehabilitate people affected by human trafficking, she was asked to shoot a short film for the organization. Paloschi became enamored with Selvi, and ended up following her over the next 10 years to film the documentary.
