By Arun Fulara. Posted on August 10, 2015

There are films that stay with us. Films that open our eyes to a new world. That speak to us. That shake us. Or wake us up. Open our eyes to possibilities that we didn't know existed. Films that we can't get out of our minds. That define our lives even.

You know what film that is. Often there are more than one.

But do you know what films have inspired our favourite filmmakers? This interesting set of videos on Rajeev Masand's Youtube channel has some of our best directors answer this question. Check out what films inspired them and if you haven't seen them yet, then maybe this is a good time to do so.

1. Imtiaz Ali - Junoon by Shyam Benegal

2. Rajkumar Hirani - Anand by Hrishikesh Mukherjee

3. Dibakar Banerjee - Raging Bull by Martin Scorsese

4. Anurag Kashyap - Bicycle Thieves by Vittorio De Sica

5. Vikramaditya Motwane - Underground by Emir Kusturica

6. Sriram Raghavan - Shawshank Redemption by Frank Darabont

7. Shoojit Sircar - Apu Trilogy by Satyajit Ray

8. Tigmanshu Dhulia - Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid by George Roy Hill

You should check out the channel for more of these. And let us know what film changed your life. We would love to know.
