The making of a film can teach one a lot of directing a movie. Neeraj Ghaywan's award winning film Masaan released a clip of it's making today, and it is worth a watch for all budding filmmakers. The film, which won two jury awards at this year's Cannes Film Festival, is set to release on June 24th. Starring Richa Chadha, Sanjay Mishra, Vicky Kaushal & Shweta Tiwari, Masaan has been produced by Drishyam Films of Manish Mundra, Phantom Films and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment, along with French producers, Macassar Productions, ARTE France Cinema & Pathe Production.
The video focuses on the four key characters of the film and the research that went behind creating them.
Neeraj explains, "Varun Grover and I researched content for the film for around a year in Benares. We spent a lot of time with the Chaudhary family of the Dom community who work in cremation grounds. A lot of the film has been drawn from real life."
According to him,"Winning at Cannes has helped us in many ways. Besides the amazing exposure and buzz in India, we have already sold the film in many territories abroad."
