Making an animated movie isn't easy. It is more like swimming against the current; complex and tiring. Animators and technicians work for months and years to give us films filled with intricate details, amazing characters & top-notch visual effects.
While much is written & known about the filmmaking process of a live-action film, most people don't know the intricacies involved in the making of an animation film. This video put up by Richard Christensen, shows exactly what goes into the making of an animated film. From story-boarding to visual effects to matte painting to surfacing to lighting a film, this video takes us step-by-step through the process that DreamWorks animation studios follows to churn out their films.
This is the same studio that has given us gems like Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How To Train Your Dragon, among the over 30 films that have between them won multiple Oscars, BAFTA's, Emmy's & Golden Globes. Their characters like Shrek, Po, Alex, & Hiccup have time & again made us fall in love with them. The studio, started in 1994 by the trio of Steven Spielberg, David Geffen, and Jeffrey Katzenberg is one of the leading animation studios in the world.
So, this video is effectively a peek inside the biggest (and the best) animation studios in the world today.
