85 Films That Scorsese Believes Every Filmmaker Must See!

By Srikanth Kanchinadham. Posted on July 13, 2015

Sometime back we came across this post on Open Culture that listed the 85 films Martin Scorsese thinks every aspiring filmmaker must watch.

Now if Scorsese says something, we usually perk up and take note. One of the greatest filmmakers alive with an enviable set of classics to his name, listening to Scorsese is akin to attending a film school.

The list is a bit surprising (as this post over at Flavorwire points out) for it doesn't mention any Kubrick or Fellini or Kurosawa and mentions Hitchcock but once. Nonetheless the list is an exciting mix of movies from around the world and includes works by masters like Welles, Rossellini, Billy Wilder, Coppola, Frank Capra & Elia Kazan amongst others.

The really cool guys over at Flavorwire created this must watch mash-up from across these films. To read Scorsese's commentary on each of these films head over to FastCoCreate.
