The 18th edition of Croatia’s Motovun Film Festival ended on July 29 with the main award, Propeller of Motovun, going to the French-Belgian film The Wakhan Front directed by Clément Cogitore. The psychological thriller is about a French captain assigned on a control and surveillance mission in a remote valley on the Afghan-Pakistan border, whose troops start mysteriously disappearing.

A documentary on the Jain practice of santhara, where a person takes a vow of abstinence and starves to death, has won a Special Jury award at the recently concluded Kolkata Shorts International Film Festival 2015. The 25-minute film has been written, directed and edited by Mumbai-based journalist-filmmaker Shekhar Hattangadi. The film, Santhara, focuses on the conflict between a traditional religious practice and modern laws by exploring the spiritual, ethical, sociological and medico-legal aspects of santhara.

Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) announced that Alec Baldwin and Randy Mastro have been elected as Co-Chairmen of the HIFF Board of Directors. Alec Baldwin is an American actor, producer & comedian and has played prominent roles in The Departed, and The Aviator.

The Path of Zarathustra is all set to release under the PVR Director’s Rare banner on 4th September 2015. Directed by Oorvazi Irani, the movie touches upon the theme of Parsi community and their ancient faith - Zoroastraianism, founded by the first their Prophet, Zarathustra.
