A great chat with Thelma Schoonmaker, the legendary film editor and frequent collaborator with director Martin Scorsese on many classics including 'Raging Bull', 'Goodfellas', 'Gangs of New York', 'Departed' and the recent 'The Wolf of Wall Street'.
This chat was a part of many talks with industry veterans at the Tribeca film festival this year. Others interviewed include Ron Howard, Michael Douglas, Aaron Sorkin, Alec Baldwin and Terence Winter.
Although it would've been great to watch her present this with the scenes from the film, it is still a great talk. Listen to it here...
Thelma talks on the 'Raging Bull' and the talk is an illuminating insight into the things that went into the making of one of the most legendary films of all time. It covers the decision to make the film in monochrome, the cinematic inspirations, the brilliant use of cinematography and music to heighten the impact of the scenes inside the boxing ring and of course the tremendous physical metamorphosis that De Niro underwent to bring the character of Jake LaMotta alive on the screen.
Top the interview up with another video of her's talking on 'The Wolf of Wall Street'.
