Meghna Gulzar's 'Talvar' & Leena Yadav's 'Parched' In TIFF!

The first round announcements of The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has been announced. The festival is celebrating 40 years of being one of the top film festivals around the globe. Scheduled to run from 10th of September to the 20th of September, the festival sure looks to be a promising event.

Deepa Mehta's Beeba Boys has been selected in the gala premiere. The movie starring Randeep Hooda in the lead is about ruthless a Sikh mobster who leads his soldiers into a turf war for control of the Vancouver drugs- and arms-trafficking rackets. Do check out the official trailer of Beeba Boys right below:

Leena Yadav's Parched has been selected in the Special Presentations. The movie starring Tannishtha Chatterjee is about four ordinary women who begin to throw off their traditions that hold them in servitude. The inspirational drama is set in rural India.

Meghna Gulzar's Guilty (Talvar)has also been selected in the Special Presentations. The movie starring Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi, The Lunchbox) in dramatization of the notorious “Noida Double Murder Case,” which set off a media frenzy around the world in 2008.

Among the films that were selected, another one that caught our eye was The Man Who Knew InfinityThe film starring Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) and Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons is an inspirational biopic about Srinivasa Ramanujan, the early-20th century Indian mathematician whose groundbreaking theories revolutionized the field.

The Toronto International Film Festival  is one of the biggest publicly attended film festival held each September in Toronto,Ontario, Canada. The eleven day festival  welcomes an estimated 400,000 attendees, over 4000 of whom are industry professionals. Founded in 1976, the festival is known originally as "The Festival of Festivals". Notable films to have had their world or North American premiere at Toronto include Dallas Buyers Club, Chariots of Fire,  Downfall, Sideways, Silver Linings PlaybookThe King's Speech, Argo and Crash.
