When he speaks, you listen! There are very few people we can say that about. Steven Spielberg is at the top of that list.
Like we've said elsewhere, “anything and everything he says is loaded with meaning and inspiration for us all”, and this speech that he delivered at Harvard is no exception. With anecdotes from his life, the speech was much like his movies; witty and in sync with the audience.
“What you choose to do next is what we call in the movies ‘the character defining moment.’ Now, these moments you’re very familiar with, like in the last Star Wars: The Force Awakens, when Rey realizes the force is with her, or Indiana Jones choosing mission over fear by jumping into a pile of snakes. In a two-hour movie, you get a handful of character defining moments, but in real life, you face them every day; life is one long string of character defining moments.”
That's as inspiring as it gets. But there's more & while we would love to write it all down, it's better that you watch the master speak yourself.
